Role Overview

The Staff Accountant supports the daily operations of the accounting department and ensures accuracy in financial records, invoices, payroll, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage invoice routing and approval processes

  • Verify invoices, match purchase orders and delivery tickets

  • Complete weekly accounts payable check runs

  • Work with vendors to resolve discrepancies

  • Assist with general ledger reconciliations and month-end close

  • Support project managers and supervisors with financial accuracy

  • Verify proper sales tax application and documentation

  • Maintain vendor files, including W-9s, ACH forms, and credit applications

  • Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees

  • Handle prevailing wage and certified payroll reports as needed

  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all accounting functions

  • Assist the Controller and other team members with various projects

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of accounting experience (construction industry preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem-solving
