Position Role and Ideal Candidate:

The primary role of a Heavy Equipment Operator is to safely and efficiently operate the following types of heavy machinery:

  • Bulldozers
  • Excavators
  • Skid Steers
  • Front-end loaders
  • Backhoes
  • Tractors
  • Forklifts

Ideal Candidate is dependable, experienced, competent, and proficient in handling ats operating boats. Must be familiar with boating terminology, water and boating safety, handling of boats (launching, mooring, etc.).

  • Trenching
  • Digging utilities
  • Earthwork
  • Shaping levees
  • Demolition
  • Operating machinery around ground personnel

Responsibilities:

  • Grade areas (Blue Top / Finish grade) without GPS
  • Excavate, distribute, and level material, earth, or terrain.
  • Material Handling
  • Defensive driving/operating:
    • Plan ahead
    • Constantly monitor operations and scan surroundings
    • Protect yourself and others
    • Eliminate distractions
    • Anticipate, recognize, and avoid potential hazards/obstructions such as:
      • workers
      • underground and overhead utilities
      • other equipment or vehicles
      • falling objects
    • Halt operations until hazard is mitigated
  • Knowledgeable of and compliant with:
    • Company policies and procedures
    • OSHA safety rules and regulation
    •  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Hazard Communication Program
  • Daily responsibilities:
    • Preventive Maintenance
    • Equipment inspections and damage reporting
    • Greasing
    • Fueling
    • Attend jobsite safety meetings

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Pass Pre-employment Assessments (includes BGC, drug test, & physical)
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Must have the following:
    • driver’s license
    • TWIC card
    • steel toe work boots
    • reliable transportation
    • ability to work in all weather
    • the physical ability to complete strenuous tasks and walk on uneven surfaces
