Position Role and Ideal Candidate:

The primary roles of a Truck Driver are to safely operate tractor-trailers, straight trucks, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks for the purpose of hauling heavy equipment / construction material.  Additionally, drivers will be required to operate fork lifts and various types of heavy equipment during the loading and unloading of cargo.

 

The ideal candidate for this position has a minimum of 5 years’ experience (verifiable) in related truck experience (Dump Truck’s, Low-Boy’s, and Roll-off’s), possess' an excellent driving record, is a team player, is extremely safe & reliable, and technologically savvy. Must pass applicable drug test and pre-employment screenings, as well as, possess a valid CDL Class A license

Responsibilities:

  • Be a team player and maintain a great attitude

  • Operate 55 ton and 90 ton lowboy trailer

  • Transport Heavy Equipment such as cranes, loaders, dozers, track hoes, excavators, etc.

  • Operate tractor-trailer combinations or a truck with a minimum capacity of 26,000 pounds GVW.

  • Operate dump trucks and roll-off trucks 

  • Operate Heavy Equipment Safely 

  • Material Delivery

  • Operate truck safely at all times and obey all traffic laws. 

  • Maintain logs and paper work as required (i.e. driving log, invoices, load tickets, etc.)

  • Perform daily truck/equipment inspections (i.e. picture documentation, pre-operation walk around, check fluid levels (oil, water, fuel), examining for leaks and wear and tear etc.)  

  • Perform preventive maintenance such as general equipment cleaning, maintain tire pressure, maintain proper fluid levels, lubricate machine daily, etc. 

  • Inspect heavy equipment, vehicles, and cargo for proper tie down and for any possible damage prior to transporting.

  • Must be knowledgeable of all federal and state transportation regulations and stay current on all future regulation changes. 

  • Safety Ambassador

  • Attends daily safety meetings

  • Must be familiar with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hazard Communication Program and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Responsible for reporting any type of damage to Company equipment or vehicles to the Equipment Manager immediately.

  • Monitors all operations to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as other equipment or vehicles, other workers, and falling or stationary objects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience hauling equipment with lowboy

  • Must be a team player who maintains a positive attitude

  • Possess a valid Class A Driver’s License

  • Must have a clean MVR (No major violations, No DWI/DUI)

  • Must have steel toe work boots

  • Pass applicable pre-employment screenings (including but not limited to DOTD drug test & DOTD physical)

  • Possess a valid TWIC card

  • Ability to load/unload equipment/material onto trailers

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Have the ability to work in all weather

  • Must be punctual and reliable

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Have the ability to work in all weather conditions

  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical activities requiring considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving your whole body - such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping

  • Maintain and handle all materials, tools, and equipment. 

  • Must be able to handle and move objects using hands and arms in manipulating objects.

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be capable of bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling in awkward positions to preform day-to-day tasks

  • Must be capable of walking/working on uneven surfaces.

  • Must be capable of performing a variety of tasks involving physical labor

  • Must be capable of loading and unloading building/construction materials
